A professor I dislike...
There was one situation when I had an old professor from the depression era (I cannot quite recall the exact time period)? I will not name the professor...
He was sort of sexist and insane. He had a non-conforming attitude. He was a stickler for lateness. In other words he does not accept late papers under no circumstances and you had to apologize to the class when you were late. The reason was that we as individuals would cave into the demands of that person if we allow a certain situation to happen. The process will repeat again and again without any limits. I agreed with his views on handing in papers on time. However, I also disagree with this view. For example, what if I was hurt in a traffic accident and I could not make it to class to hand in my paper? I will not be able to hand the paper in and I would get a zero for the grade. Anyway, he had a policy about group projects. If the group unanimously votes a person out of the group then that person is kicked out of the group and that person receives a zero for the class. What if a person was dislike by the members of the group? Then that person can receive a failing grade unfairly. I dislike his policies.
Anyway, we only had two groups to present. The first group presented their topic very well. However, the professor gave them an average grade which I did not agree with. I was in the second group but the professor expected us to perform better than the first group or we will receive a lower grade than the first group or a failing grade. Ugh...I was so frustrated with this professor...
I thought our group was going to fail but we miraculously presented better than the other group. I felt the professor was bias on this decision. Luckily my group saved me...
Reasons I dislike group projects:
- The group cannot meet at the same time
- The group cannot coordinate on what to write
- A member of the group does not contribute enough

I agree that there are certain professors that students should avoid taking, especially ones that are similar to the one you specified. One of the better ways to go about selecting professors to take is to ask friends for recommendations or search for feedback from prior students. The professor you take weighs heavily for the class you take!
I agree as well there is always a problem with being in a group with others can be very challenging but you still got to do it no matter what!!! It sucks sometimes.....
There is a lot of professors, only a handful you would appreciate but at times its impossible to avoid professors like you mentioned. I don't like group project much either but at times its not so bad. Group projects is an effort that everyone has to put in together.
I guess, I have to add myself in this agreement with the strict professor when students must to summit their homework on time, but guy we have to be responsible in our homework, remember that one day all of us we going to get a real job with a salary and if we don't do our jab well we not going to get paid or even worse get fired from job. don't take this personal.
