The impact of social networking on businesses

My topic will be focusing on what are the advantages and disadvantages of the usage of social networking in business. In addition, I will be focusing on the positive and negative effects of using social networking in business especially the workforce. For example, businesses began to use social networking (like twitter) as an extension of their customer service to communicate with their customers. Furthermore, the business also conveys an image that they are paying attention to their customer needs. Businesses also use social networking to promote their products and enter new markets. On the other hand, some businesses forbid the usage of social networking because the workers tend to be less productive when social networking is allowed at their workplace. Social networking can also be a privacy concern for major organizations when important information can be leaked out. I may argue for one side over another to see if the pros of using social networking in business can outweigh the cons of using social networking in business.

I find this interesting because I see a lot of companies that use facebook as a deciding factor on whether a candidate for a job will actually get the job. It'll be interesting if you can find some solid data on that!

This is a very relevant topic these days as many companies are looking for ways to spread the word about their companies and increase their customer base by using social networks. 750 million people use Facebook and the wave of businesses expanding by becoming active on Facebook is just beginning. It will be interesting to see how this trend unfolds. But just like you said, this will bring about many privacy concerns because private information can be leaked and many customers would prefer not making their identities public when it comes to buying certain products.
